Bordeaux was named a World Heritage Site by Unesco and was a prosperous Gallo-Roman city. Now with over 700.000 inhabitants, it is also known as “Little Rome” as well as the world capital of wine. The city still currently maintains exceptional architectural heritage from the 18th Century, offering interesting museums, including the Museum of Aquitine, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Museum and several private museums, two of which are devoted to wine.
