Siegfried Lettmann

Managing Director Cs-Strategies in Salzburg

Are you ready to take the next step to go abroad? An experience abroad will benefit you in many ways, career wise and personally.

Working in a professional environment abroad, such as an internship, will help you immerse into new cultures, gain professional experience and strengthen your language skills. This way, you learn different perspectives, values and norms first hand. Adjusting to a new culture and understanding it, will not just benefit you whilst doing your internship abroad, it will also benefit you in the long run. You may see things differently that may have never occurred to you before.

When dealing with a new culture on your own, it will broaden your horizons and help you in choosing your career path. To master a foreign language can only benefit you and your career, which in my opinion is very important. With an internship you have the possibility in combining an intercultural experience, learning a new language and working in a professional environment abroad. Doing an internship abroad helps you in taking your first steps towards your future career. How so? You gain your first insights into how an international company works as well as gaining work experience in the area you have chosen to work in.

I have conducted many interviews in which the decision sometimes came down to, whether the applicant had had experience abroad or not. I personally have worked (and will probably in the future) with colleagues and customers from all over the world, from different cultures and languages. I have also worked abroad and obtained a lot of positive experiences. This is why I think it is very important to invest in an internship abroad for your future.
