Volunteer in Uruguay
As a volunteer worker in uruguay you have the chance to combine a language course with work on one of the projects available. A language course in our academy lasts for at least three weeks (it may be extended), and takes place alongside your volunteer work.
As a voluntary helper in the area of social work you will be placed, for example, in an establishment for abandoned children. The children and youths are between six and eighteen years old. Some are HIV positive; some are victims of violence and abuse in the home. We are looking for helpers who already have experience handling children and youths. Tasks may be, among others, looking after them, helping with homework or giving English classes. For this reason an intermediate to high level of English is required.
Another project involves the rebuilding and renovation of houses in Montevideo and the surrounding area, which are not connected to the infrastructure. Permits must be applied for from the authorities, in order to provide settlements with water and electricity. There tasks are in the areas of house building, repair work or the drawing up of new social work programmes. You will work two days a week and on Saturdays.

• Two extracurricular activities a week (e.g. city tour, museum, tango, barbeque, excursions, etc.).
• On-site support and 24 hour emergency number.
• Help obtaining travel insurance.
• PractiGo travel documents with information and helpful tips.
• A PractiGo participation certificate upon request.
•Minimum age: 18.
•Start date: Always on a Monday, all year round.
•Duration: 6 - 24 weeks (longer upon request).
•Language skills: A good grasp of Spanish is required. A two week on-site Spanish course is fixed. We are happy to arrange a longer language course for you.
•Closing date for applications: Approx. two or three months before your departure. In urgent cases, please call us immediately, so that we can find you an available flight.
•Visa/Nationalities: Eu citizens, Swiss nationals, others possible upon request.
•Insurance: Before you start your Volunteer Programme we require proof of your health-, liability- and accident-insurance for the full duration of your stay.
