Internship in Guatemala
Guatemala is located in Central America and is bordered by Mexico to the north and west, Belize to the northeast and Honduras and El Salvador to the southeast. The origin of the name “Guatemala” is derived from the word “Cuauhtemallan” which means “the land of the trees” in the Maya-Toltec language. The country is located between the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean. It is known as the centre of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization. Guatemala has a population of 12 million which has a diversity of origins. This is the reason why the culture reflects Mayan and Spanish influences.
Cities: Work placements take place in Antigua.
Length of internship: From eight to fifty-two weeks.
Start date: Every Monday, all year round.
Accommodation: Host family or student residence.
Language courses: The internship may be booked without a language course. PractiGo generally recommends a preparatory two-week language course, in order to become acclimatized.
Specifics: You decide when, where and in which area the internship is to be carried out. You will receive the information on your work placement two or three weeks at the latest before it is due to start.

Language skills: You should have a good grasp of written and spoken Spanish. You can learn the language or refresh your knowledge with a preparatory course.
Practical experience: Professional experience is not compulsory, although some experience in the area of work is an advantage.
Minimum age: 18.
Nationality: Eu citizens, Swiss nationals, others possible upon request.
Closing date for applications: Approx. two or three months prior to starting the internship. In urgent cases, please call us as we are able to organize express work placements.
