Marco Molitor

Board member of the DBH Logistics IT AG

Doing an internship before, during or after your studies or apprenticeship should be recommended to everyone. Doing an internship in a gap year or a few months could be especially useful. Gaining experience in an international work environment, will only benefit you in your future career choices. Whether you choose volunteer work, an internship abroad or work and travel, it all looks great on your resume.

Now a days, learning new languages and cultures is expanding. In my career, I have worked abroad, collaborated with foreign companies in various sectors, I’ve had regular contact to people who speak different languages and come from different cultures. These experiences have really helped me with my new project and also in my personal development. I am now a board member and lead the team responsible for international business development with 12 years’ experience.

The intercultural competence is becoming more and more important. Cooperation agreements with other nations, just goes to show how much we have advanced and adjusted to this new type of work environment.

It is rarely seen in a company where only employees of the same nationality work. This is due to the lack of language skills in various foreign countries. For this reason, a stay abroad can be very beneficial, especially in the IT industry in which I have been working in for over 10 years.
